Brooke Campbell
My name is Brooke Campbell, I’ve been riding for 8 years and I have loved every new adventure my equestrian journey has taken me on.
I began riding at the age of 7 at a western discipline, it all started at an equestrian camp in Upper Marlboro dedicated to exposing underprivileged children to things they normally wouldn’t get an opportunity to try.
Within 2 years of riding my parents saw my potential in the sport and since then they have gone out of their way to “sponsor” my riding endeavors. In eighth grade, I was accepted into a prestigious school with an excellent English riding program. I’m now a sophomore at said school and ride almost 6 days a week. I can see myself slowly progressing and approaching new challenges with ease. I’m currently jumping about 2’3 and doing a little dressage work in my free time.
I believe that the time you spend out of the saddle is 2 times as important as the time you spend in the saddle. The ground time I spend with my horses doing little things such as bonding with them through brushing and bathing, and teaching them little tricks make our rides together even more worthwhile as well as educational. Since so many years have passed, I went back to my old camp in the summer and helped a few professional trainers teach children, and the light in their eyes from sitting on those ponies brings back memories.
