In the Spotlight: Ateasha Baltodano
Throughout each month, we’ll share submitted features on BIPOC riders within our network. It’s important that we lift up the voices and stories of underrepresented riders so as to help bring more future equestrians into the community. Remember: SEE it, share it! About Ateasha:
“I have been riding and competing since I was 12 years old. I was a member of 4H and spent a short time in Pony Club. I took a break from horses during my teenage years. It came back full circle when our youngest daughter decided she wanted a pony 2 years ago. Now we own a farm with 8 horses, goats and a steer. It’s funny how horses never fully leave your life once you fall in the love with them.
I ride western and English. I've barrel/pole raced, done trail rides, hunter/jumper courses, dressage, and fox hunting. Now my goal for 2021 is to compete in eventing. I have two horses currently in training to compete. I'm very excited about that. I have three kids, including two girls who also ride and are members of the Pony Club, which I am the club secretary for. My husband has learned to ride as well. My son just likes to cheer us on!”
