Leg Up Scholarship: Accepting Applications for 3-Day Camp with Ashley Johnson

Strides for Equality Equestrians is currently accepting applications for a special three day training camp with top level eventer Ashley Johnson this December. One applicant will be selected to receive a Leg Up Grant to join Ashley at her own Totem Hill Farm in Ocala, FL. The deadline for applications is October 15, 2022.

About the Training Camp

The camp will take place over 3 weekdays in December of 2022. There is some flexibility regarding the dates. Room, board, and lessons will be provided. Applicants must arrange and pay for their own transportation to and from the camp. Applicants with the ability to bring a horse are welcome to do so. Otherwise a lesson horse maybe available. Applicants interested in using a lesson horse for the camp should provide a video of their riding to ensure they are an appropriate fit for one of Ashley’s available horses.

 

About Ashley Johnson

A 5* rider, Ashley began competing at the United States Eventing Association’s advanced level in 2001. Ashley also holds a USDF Bronze Medal with scores towards her Silver Medal and competes in straight jumpers. She is a certified ICP Level IV instructor through the U.S. Eventing Association’s Instructor Certification Program as well as being a licensed as an ‘r’ judge and technical delegate with the United States Eventing Association. She has been the coach of the University of Florida Eventing Team since 2016, and in 2022 Ashley was named the USEA Area III Young Rider Coach.


 

Eligibility and Application

Applicants must…

  • Be a minimum of 14 years old. (Minor applicants must be accompanied by a parent.)

  • Be based in the United States.

  • Be dedicated to developing a career path in equine sports.

  • Be willing to share their experience as part of SEE blogs, vlogs, social & print media.

  • Be committed to increasing access to equestrian sports for underrepresented groups.
